A new trailer for Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez’s Sin City: A Dame To Kill For has arrived and it looks stylishly hypnotic. Along with the intriguing visuals, it also features a star-studded cast of Josh Brolin, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Dennis Haysbert, and Eva Green, in addition to the Sin City returnees, Jessica Alba, Powers Boothe, Rosario Dawson, Mickey Rourke, and Bruce Willis.
As we previously covered at mxdwn Movies, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For is based on Miller’s comic books, Sin City. Taking place in a town where you have to be crooked to survive, the trailer paints a suave reawakening of a graphic novel. The moving captions and the mostly black and white imagery foretell this picture will be a feast for the geeks.
The trailer shows glimpses of Gordon-Levitt’s character Johnny, and Brolin’s Dwight, as they both attempt to climb out of chaos. Rourke plays Marv, a dangerous hulking character. John (Willis) affirms that evil prevails too often in this city, when he states, “Death is just like life in Sin City. It always wins.”
The stakes are high for this follow up to Rodriguez and Miller’s Sin City (2005). Using a nonlinear structure, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For is another chance for Miller to translate his graphic novels to the screen. This thriller will be lurking around the corner August 22nd.
