Paramount Pictures has released a new official trailer for Top Gun: Maverick, the long-awaited sequel to the original 1986 film starring Tom Cruise.
More than thirty years after the original film, the sequel follows Lt. Pete “Maverick” Mitchell (Cruise) in a new teaching position as one of the Navy’s top aviators. When a new batch of Top Gun graduates come in to train for a particularly dangerous mission, the group includes the son of his late friend, Lt. Nick “Goose” Bradshaw. In working with Lt. Bradley Bradshaw or “Rooster” (Miles Teller), Maverick must face the ghosts of his past, confront the high stakes of the mission at hand, and do what he can to teach his students well.
The newest look at the film shows extensive fighter pilot flight sequences with Cruise’s Maverick showing off his skills to his younger students. It also further alludes to the conflict between Maverick and Rooster and how both of their pasts will affect their relationship.
Alongside Tom Cruise and Miles Teller, the film sees Val Kilmer returning along with Glen Powell, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Lewis Pullman, Danny Ramirez, and Monica Barbaro. The film is directed by Joseph Kosinski and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, Tom Cruise, Christopher McQuarrie, David Ellison. It is executive produced by Tommy Harper, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger, Chad Oman, and Mike Stenson.
Top Gun: Maverick releases in theaters on May 27.
