The trailer for Murder on the Orient Express has just arrived! It looks like the film is aiming to capture the winter box office, drawing on the large demographic of people who head to the movies during the holiday season. Gathering its material from an Agatha Christie novel of the same name, the film will offer up yet another portrayal of her most iconic character, Hercule Poirot. The original novel came out eighty three years before this new film, all the way back in 1934. There was also a film on the same subject in 1974, which perhaps speaks to Hollywood’s continual habit of remaking and updating classic movies.
Kenneth Branagh will portray the feature role of detective Poirot and will also direct the movie. The film also features Daisy Ridley who, after her role as protagonist Rey in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, has worked on several other upcoming projects, ranging from a movie centered on Ophelia (who she will play) from Hamlet, to science fiction film Chaos Walking, and of course the next installation in a galaxy far, far away.
Branagh and Ridley will be joined by an extremely charismatic cast: Judi Dench, Michelle Pfeiffer, Penélope Cruz, Josh Gad, Leslie Odom Jr., and Willem Dafoe.
The trailer can be viewed below.
Murder on the Orient Express will conduct itself into theaters on November 10th of this year .
