Comicbook has reported on new images that have been revealed by Paramount for Top Gun: Maverick. Top Gun: Maverick is the sequel to the 1986 film Top Gun. Both films star Tom Cruise as Maverick, who is a United States Naval Aviator. The film’s sequel will feature Miles Teller, known for Whiplash, in the role of Lt. Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw. Teller’s character is the son of Nick “Goose” Bradshaw, who is Maverick’s deceased best friend. Jennifer Connelly, known for Alita: Battle Angel, will be playing the role of Penny Benjamin, Maverick’s love interest, Ed Harris, known for The Lost Daughter, will be playing the role of Maverick’s Supervisor.
The film will be directed by Joseph Kosinski, who worked with Cruise before when he directed Oblivion. The new images show off the fighter jets used in the film. One image features Cruise inside of the fighter jet while the other shows Cruise standing in front of the fighter jet. Top Gun: Maverick’s production was affected heavily by the COVID-19 pandemic. The film’s original release date was back in 2019 but was delayed due to the intensity of the films fighter jet scenes. Once the film was delayed into 2020 the pandemic only delayed the film further.
Top Gun: Maverick will release in theaters on May 27th.
