Marvel has released the newest trailer for the upcoming Doctor Strange sequel Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Just one month before its release, the trailer reveals the emotional toll the film takes on both the characters and the audience. The clip includes new footage of Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff having nightmares about the kids she no longer has.
“I’ve been dreaming,” Benedict Cumberbatch’s Dr. Stephen Strange opens the one-minute clip that features new footage. “Every night, the same dream.”
Where Olsen’s Wanda then continues the conversation, “Every morning the same nightmare.”
The film itself takes place directly after the latest Spider-Man film, Spider-Man: No Way Home, where Dr. Strange opens a rift within the multiverse trying to help Peter Parker, putting the entire universe’s reality in danger.
The sequel will star Benedict Cumberbatch as Strange and Olsen as Maximoff. Alongside them will be Benedict Wong as Wong, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo, and Marvel newcomer, Xochitl Gomez as America Chavez.
Continuing the trailer, Wong tells Dr. Strange that the fate of the multiverse is in their hands, while Mordo warns, “Careful, Stephen. This path exacts a heavy toll.”
The Multiverse of Madness finished production in the spring of last year but announced in November that they would be undergoing further reshoots in order to finish the film, which took six weeks to complete in Los Angeles.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness opens in theatres on May 6th.
