Last year Netflix released a teen romantic comedy called To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, adapted from the first of a series of young adult novels written by author Jenny Han. The film focused on a teenage girl named Lara Jean (Lana Condor) whose secret love letters of the guys she’s crushed on in high school are sent out, causing havoc on her life. To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before turned out to be a major success for Netflix, not only receiving praise from critics but apparently evening causing massive spike in sales for Yakult, a drink heavily featured in the movie.
Now Netflix plans on capitalizing on this movie’s success by adapting the other novels in the book series into movies as well. Netflix has already announced a release date of February 12th 2020 for the second movie, which will be titled P.S. I Still Love You. An adaptation of the third book, Always and Forever, Lara Jean, is currently in production.
Michael Fimognari, the cinematographer of the previous film, will be serving as the director of P.S. I Still Love You, and writer Sofia Alvarez, who wrote the first movie’s script, is also in charge of the sequel’s screenplay. Lana Condor will be reprising her role as Lara Jean, and actor Noah Centineo will also be returning to play Lara’s love interest Peter.
