Off of the heels of the news that Hulk Hogan’s wrestling career would receive the biopic treatment at Netflix, another icon of 80’s popular culture saw the release of the first trailer for its biopic from the streaming giant. The Dirt, which is a biopic centered around the LA based rock band Mötley Crüe, saw its first trailer debut this week and already sits at over one million views on Youtube.
Based on the 2001 collaborative autobiography, by the band members and author Neil Strauss, of the same name, The Dirt will follow the true story of one of the most notorious bands in history. As shown in the bright and colorful trailer, it shall chronicle the origins of the band and their rise to success as well as lower points such as the controversial car crash in 1984 which killed Razzle, the drummer for the Finnish rock band Hanoi Rocks.
The members of Mötley Crüe will be played by Daniel Webster, Douglas Booth, Iwan Rhein, and Colson Baker (aka Machine Gun Kelly). David Costabile will portray Doc McGhee, the band’s manager, and the film is directed by American filmmaker Jeff Tremaine who is known for the Jackass films. The Dirt releases on Netflix’s platform on March 22nd and the trailer can be seen below.
