Windfall, a Hitchcockian thriller or modern-day gothic starring Jason Segel (How I Met Your Mother), Lily Collins (Emily in Paris), and Jesse Plemons (Judas and the Black Messiah), has been bought by Netflix.
According to sources, Netflix bought the rights earlier than it was announced in a large 8-figure transaction.
Charlie McDowell, best known for directing The One I Love that starred Elisabeth Moss and Ted Danson, directed Windfall and helped bring the story to life with Segel, who is known very well for his writing and story ideas. The script was written by Justin Lader (The One I Love) and Andrew Kevin Walker (Sleepy Hollow).
Windfall follows a young couple who arrive at their vacation home to discover that the house is being robbed.
Fans of Segel can currently see him on AMC’s Dispatches from Elsewhere. He is set to star in an untitled Lakers project, a TV mini-series as Paul Westhead.
Along with McDowell (director/writer) and Justin Lader (writer), Lily Collins is set to star in the drama Gilded Rage about the murder of investment banker Thomas Gilbert Sr.
Plemons is currently filming Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon as Tom White alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro.
Windfall finished production earlier this year.
