Neon has acquired the rights to new horror film, Immaculate, directed by Michael Mohan and produced by and starring Sydney Sweeney. No theatrical release date has been given out as of yet.
The film follows Sweeney’s character, Cecilia, a devout woman, who is given an opportunity to join an Italian convent. Upon joining the convent, however, the idyllic Italian countryside becomes disturbed as Cecilia uncovers the dark secrets of her new life.
The film’s script is written by Andrew Lobel. Along with Sweeney, the film stars Simona Tabasco, Alvaro Morte, Benedetta Porcaroli, and Dora Romano.
Middle Child Pictures’ David Bernad also worked alongside Sweeney. The two developed Immaculate after their collaboration on The White Lotus. Additional producers on the film include Jonathan Davino for Sweeney’s Fifty-Fifty Films, and Teddy Swarzman and Michael Heimler for Black Bear, which financed the project entirely and also represented the film for international sales rights. Black Bear’s John Friedberg and Cristopher Casanova will serve as executive producers along with Will Greenfield.
Jason Wald, Neon’s Vice president of Acquisitions & Production, was responsible for negotiating the deal on behalf of the company and CAA Media Finance and Paradigm were responsible for negotiating from the side of the filmmakers.
