Last year Netflix released an original movie simply titled A Christmas Prince. Its story is simple: Amber, played by Rose Mclver, is a young single reporter from New York City who travels to a small fictitious European country and falls in love with the monarch Prince Richard, played by Ben Lamb.
The movie is a typical Christmas romantic comedy that has the right amount of sappy ridiculousness and watchability that would make it fit right at home on the Hallmark Channel’s Christmas lineup. Overall the movie is a perfectly acceptable Christmas “Chick Flick” that’s full of harmless fluff, but it became notorious amongst Netflix fans when last December Netflix US tweeted out that 53 people had watched the movie everyday for 18 days straight.
After that A Christmas Prince caught the attention of many people on Twitter, and gave the movie a big boost in popularity. The movie became so infamous that Netflix greenlit a sequel titled A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding, which is now available to stream on Netflix. Perhaps this movie will be as strangely addicting as the first one.
