Miramax has started assembling its crew for a The Faculty remake with an unconfirmed release window. In 1998 the film The Faculty hit theaters. The film follows news editor who investigates the murder of a nurse, who turns out to be alive, which stirs suspicion about the rest of the high school staff. The film was written by Kevin Williamson, who also wrote Scream. Starring in the film were Josh Hartnett, Elijah Wood and Shawn Hatosy. The director and producer of the 1998 film, Robert Rodriguez, is also set to produce the remake. Rodriguez is also known for beginning the Spy Kids franchise. Also producing the original with Rodriguez was Elizabeth Avellan. BoulderLight, a production company behind another thriller, Barbarian from Zach Cregger, is also producing the remake.
Drew Hancock is also on board to write the screenplay for the new film. Hancock is very recently known with the brand new sci-fi thriller, Companion. He wrote and directed the film and it will be released from Warner Brothers. Sophie Thatcher and Jack Quaid both star in that film.
There are few details about the remake but until there are more, the original The Faculty can be streamed on PlutoTV.
