Miles Teller May Be Paired with Shailene Woodley Again in ‘Adrift’

Yesterday, it was reported that Miles Teller may once again star alongside Shailene Woodley, in the upcoming drama film Adrift. The film will be helmed by Everest director Baltasar Kormakur, and written by Hawaiian twin writing team Aaron and Jordan Kandell, who also worked on Disney’s animated feature Moana.

Teller’s role will be relatively small given that the plot focuses on a woman’s survival story, but still vital in the overall story arc. Taken from the real-life story of Tami Oldham, a 23 year-old women who, while on a sailing trip with her fiance in 1983, was forced to find her way home after he was thrown from the boat during a hurricane. Although she was 1,500 miles from the nearest land, and the boat and its instruments were in shambles, she survived by sailing for 41 days until she reached the coast of Hawaii.

Teller and Woodley have worked on four previous films together including The Spectacular Now, and the Divergent series (Divergent, Insurgent, Allegiant). Teller received critical acclaim for his performance alongside J.K. Simmons in Whiplash, the feature film debut of La La Land director Damien Chazelle. Last year, Teller starred in War Dogs and Bleed for This.

Teller will film his part in Adrift before he departs to film Amazon’s new crime-thriller series Too Old to Die Young, which is expected to premiere in 2018. This year, look for Teller in Thank You for Your Service and Granite Mountain. He also will be voicing an aardvark in the animated feature The Ark and the Aardvark, expected out this year as well.
