Mila Kunis Joins Film Adaptation of Author Jessica Knoll ‘Luckiest Girl Alive’ at Netflix

Golden Globe nominee Mila Kunis has signed on to be the Luckiest Girl Alive, an adaptation of the best-selling novel of the same name by Jessica Knoll for Netflix. Knoll will write the script with Mike Barker directing the film. Barker served as director and executive producer on Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale.

The story follows Ani FaNelli (Kunis), a sharp-tongued New Yorker who seems to have it all: a sought-after job at a glamorous magazine, a killer wardrobe, and a dream Nantucket wedding. But it all changes when the director of a crime documentary invites her to share her side of the disturbing incident that took place when she was a teenager at the prestigious Bradley School. Ani is then forced to confront a dark reality that threatens to destroy her carefully constructed life. Kunis will also produce the film under her Orchard Farms Productions banner.

Luckiest Girl Alive became a New York Times best-selling in 2015 when it was first published and since then has sold over a million copies and translated into 38 different languages.

Recently, Kunis can be seen in Tate Taylor’s comedy-drama Breaking News in Yuba County, as a TV reporter, about a woman (Allison Janney) who is highly opportunistic in her growing celebrity status when the police and the public believe that her dead husband is really only missing. Awkwafina, Laura Dern, and Regina Hall star in the movie with Kunis.

Cassandra Reichelt: I graduated from California State University of Long Beach in Spring 2021 with a degree in Journalism major. I did attend Long Beach City College for a couple of years, I then transferred to CSULB in 2019. I want to write something outside the normal, something no one would think to write about in a unique way. It also shows how far I am willing to go to produce something amazing that will get more readers interested in the world of Journalism. I am on my way to making a professional life for myself.
