Michael Kustermann Appointed As New Alamo Drafthouse CEO After Shelli Taylor Retires

Alamo Drafthouse has appointed Michael Kustermann to be the new CEO after Shelli Taylor announced her retirement after only three years in the position. Kustermann previously served as the popular cinema chain’s president on the board of directors.

“I am humbled to become Alamo Drafthouse’s next CEO, with the reverence for all that we do, have done, and will do,” said Kustermann. “I have the awesome privilege of now leading the best teammates in the business who make all the difference… they create an unrivaled guest experience, and we will continue to expand and innovate, creating amazing movie memories for our guests wherever we go.”

Shelli Taylor, who has been the CEO since 2020, took the theater from the days of COVID into the revival of the movie scene. Since reopening its doors, Alamo Drafthouse has opened six new locations and has plans to open even more.

“As I pass the torch to Michael, I do so with immense pride and confidence,” said Shelli Taylor. “Michael’s leadership qualities and alignment with our company’s vision make him the perfect successor. I am proud to have worked alongside our incredible teammates, and I am excited about the bright future ahead under Michael’s capable leadership.”

Kustermann will begin his work as CEO of the company on August 11th.
