During a New York Times Interview to talk about Creed 3, which has seen a fantastic start in the box office and amongst critical reviews, Michael B. Jordan and Jonathan Majors compared themselves to Robert De Niro and Al Pacino in regards to what they’re capable of achieving.
Robert De Niro is considered one of the best actors of his generation, being awarded two Academy Awards, one for Best Supporting Actor in his role as Vito Corleone in The Godfather Part 2 in 1974 and the second for Best Actor in his portrayal of Jake LaMotta in 1980’s Raging Bull. He was lauded with Oscar nominations for his roles in Taxi Driver, Awakenings, and Silver Linings Playbook, among others.
Similarly, Al Pacino is one of the most influential actors of the 20th century, having received two Tony Awards, two Primetime Emmys, and an Academy Award for his role in Scent of a Woman in 1992. He and De Niro worked together on The Godfather Part 2, with Pacino returning for the sequel as Michael Corleone.
When Times interviewer Kyle Buchanan asked about the possibility of future collaborations, based on the undeniable chemistry the two actors share, Jordan confirmed that he and Majors “plan on it.”
Majors commented aside: “De Niro and Pacino.”
“We’re excited about that, and I have those conversations with him,” Jordan had to say. “Acting is such a solo journey, where you’re fighting for your place on that call sheet for such a long time. So when you’ve got somebody that doesn’t care as much about that stuff, it’s like, ‘Let’s go. How much damage can we do together?’
Majors responded: “All of it.”
