Director of House of the Devil and The Innkeepers, Ti West, has another horror film in the works. Mia Goth and Scott Mescudi are set to star with Jenny Ortega, who’s in final negotiations to join them. X will be co-produced by A24 and BRON Studios, who will also co-finance the film.
Currently no plot details have been revealed, but it’s expected that the film will share similarities with the horror films that put West on the map. West is writing and directing the picture, and production is expected to start in early 2021.
West’s last feature-length film was the 2016 action western In the Valley of Violence, which starred Ethan Hawke alongside John Travolta. The film earned certified fresh critic score of 77% on Rotten Tomatoes with 69 reviews.
Goth had her breakout role in 2016 with Gore Verbinski’s fantasy horror A Cure for Wellness. She also starred in Luca Guadagnino’s 2018 remake of the classic Italian horror film Suspiria. Guadagnino also recently worked with Mescudi in the 2020 HBO series We Are Who We Are, where Mescudi received some of the best reviews of his career.
Ortega starred in the 2020 sequel to Netflix’s 2017 horror comedy, The Babysitter. She was also cast in the upcoming continuation of the Scream franchise, Scream 5.
