Disney’s Poor Things claims the third spot, earning £1.09 million in its second weekend, reaching a total of £3.7 million.
Sony’s Anyone But You secures the fourth position, gathering £1.07 million in its fourth weekend, amassing a total of £7 million. Warner Bros.’ One Life rounds off the top five, collecting £858,245 in its third weekend, totaling £7.4 million.
Notable debuts in the Top 10 include Universal’s The Holdovers, an awards season contender with two Golden Globes and multiple Oscar and BAFTA nominations, opening in sixth place with £689,771. Pathe Live’s Queen Rock Montreal concert film takes the ninth spot with £285,110.
In 10th place, anime legend Miyazaki Hayao’s The Boy and the Heron becomes Miyazaki’s highest-grossing title ever in the U.K. and Ireland, earning £266,130 in its fourth weekend, reaching £4.4 million.
Vue, a leading European cinema chain, is “seeing increased demand for anime across all our markets in Europe,” a spokesperson for Vue told Variety.
Looking ahead, Studiocanal’s horror film Baghead and Warner Bros’ The Color Purple are anticipated wide releases for the weekend, opening in over 300 locations each. Additionally, Disney introduces Andrew Haigh’s All of Us Strangers, while Curzon presents the documentary Samsara.
Miracle Comms brings sci-fi romance Forever Young, Vertigo Releasing offers action-thriller Jackdaw, and Verve Pictures releases the documentary This Blessed Pot. Miracle/Dazzler debuts Abel Ferrara’s Padre Pio, starring Shia LaBeouf, Asia Argento, and Marco Leonardi, which premiered in Venice in 2022.
