According to the Hollywood Reporter, Aml Ameen is coming out of the “Maze” to take on his first directorial role for his coming-of-age film, A Night Worth Living. Ameen is not the only actor to QC Entertainment has helped transition from onscreen to place in the director’s chair. One of their most illustrious creators, Jordan Peele, made plenty of buzz in 2017 with his award-nominated and fan-favorite film, Get Out. Ameen is already decorated with awards in this field, as this is actually his return to the material, which he first released it as a much-aclaimed short. Bruce Purnell also helped penn the screenplay for this longer take on the material.
Ameen’s film will use elements of internet and mobile-based communication, especially fixtures which are popular amongst the teenage population.
For those excited for the movie, there’s more good news: the film’s casting process has already started! Skylan Brooks from The Get Down will be playing a blogger intent on anonymously cause a breakup in the relationship of a character played by Jaz Sinclair from Paper Towns. However, Brooks’ character not acting out of calculation or selfishness-Sinclair’s character’s boyfriend is actually cheating on her and he wants to put a stop to that.
So far production for A Night Worth Living is promised to begin in the next few months. There is currently no confirmed release date for the film.
