Matthew McConaughey, Austin Butler, And Pedro Pascal Among All-star Cast Joining Park Chan-Wook’s ‘The Brigands of Rattlecreek’

An all-star cast has joined Park Chan-Wook’s The Brigands of Rattlecreek. This cast includes Academy Award-winner Matthew McConaughey, Academy Award-nominee Austin Butler, Pedro Pascal, and Chinese actress Tang Wei.

Park Chan-Wook is directing the film from a screenplay written by S. Craig Zahler. The film will be Park Chan-Wook’s first English-language feature since 2013’s Stoker and will be a follow-up to his previous English-language production, the HBO Max mini-series The Sympathizer.

The Brigands of Rattlecreek is being described as a revenge story set in the Western genre. Here’s a plot synopsis, as provided by Variety:

“A capstone of the themes Park Chan-wook has plumbed across his entire body of work to date, the film is an emotionally explosive and visually stunning meditation on the consequences of violence, the value of family, the power of memory, and the true cost of life.”

Park Chan-Wook is set to produce the film. Other producers include Bradley Fischer and Back Jisun. Mike Medavoy and Georgia Kacandes will serve as executive producers.

The Brigands of Rattlecreek will be searching for buyers to distribute on the market at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, where Park Chan-Wook will be serving as the head of the competition jury.
