Matt Reeves Confirms Riddler Easter Egg in ‘The Batman’ Screengrab

Now on HBO Max, The Batman is now available for fans to scrutinize every frame and look for hidden clues. One fan has found one that caught the attention of director, Matt Reeves. Wondering if they were right in their prediction, the fan asked Reeves on Twitter if the Riddler (Paul Dano) was visible in the house across the street outside of the Iceberg Lounge.

“Indeed, I can confirm. 100%” Reeves responded to the original tweet.

The Batman was filmed mostly in Liverpool and took a long time filming because of production delays due to the pandemic. The budget was reportedly $200 million. In the screengrab, the Riddler was outside the Iceberg Lounge to stalk one of his victims – Gotham district attorney Gil Colson, played by Peter Sarsgaard. The Riddler himself is portrayed as a Zodiac-style killer. He chose his victims from corrupted politicians and law enforcement officers. Robert Pattinson’s Batman goes back to his detective roots where he learns about a conspiracy that leads back to his own family.

The Batman was released in March and has made over $751 million at the box office, which makes it the highest grossing film of the year. Warner Bros. has announced there are to be two sequels and two streaming series for HBO Max in Reeves’ Batman universe. One of the shows is following Collin Farrell’s Penguin in a gangster style drama. The other film is said to be a horror story inside Arkham Asylum. The ending of The Batman introduced Barry Keoghan’s Joker, who will potentially appear in future projects.
