Matt Damon, Julianne Moore, and Josh Brolin in Talks for Clooney’s ‘Suburbicon’

Matt Damon (The Martian), Julianne Moore (The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2) and Josh Brolin (Sicario) are reportedly in talks to join George Clooney’s (The Monuments Men) latest directorial effort Suburbicon, according to Deadline.

The film is a crime noir set in the 1950’s written by Joel and Ethan Coen (Hail, Caesar!) in the vein of their previous drama Blood Simple. Roles have not been detailed. Moore is coming off her Oscar win for Still Alice while Brolin most recently starred in Sicario and Damon was last seen in The Martian.

Clooney was said to be in talks to direct the film in October. Recently, Clooney has had a spotty filmography as a director with his most recent film The Monuments Men failing to earn critical or audience acclaim similar to his screwball comedy tribute Leatherheads.

The promise of this cast and the Coen brothers will give him a chance to regain the success he found with Good Night, and Good LuckConfessions of a Dangerous Mind, and The Ides of March. Clooney will be seen next in front of the camera for the Coen’s next film Hail, Caesar!, also starring Brolin. Moore previously worked with the Coens on The Big Lebowski.

Suburbicon is still in early pre-production stages with official release date. We’ll have more on the film as it releases.
