Just one month from now, Marvel’s Eternals will receive their grand debut from director Chloé Zhao. Commercials are now being released for the feature and the first spot reveals footage of the first queer couple in the MCU films.
What’s in the promo is footage that audiences have seen before, like Lia McHugh’s Sprite enchanting humans with fireworks. Some new things are featured, such as the first appearance of Phastos’ (Brian Tyree Henry) husband (Haaz Sleiman). The couple also has a child together. After all these years, fans are excited to see queer representation in such a big franchise, especially with a POC gay couple. Kit Harrington is also there as Dane Whitman, who will eventually be Black Knight as Gizmodo reports.
This next MCU film follows the Eternals, a group of powerful immortals hiding in plain sight who finally decide to join the fight in defending the planet. The universe has just received a massive population resurgence after Avengers: Endgame, but once again, the Earth is in danger of being wiped out. The Eternals must band together to stop the Deviants and save the world, per usual.
Marvel Studios doesn’t stray away from marketing their movies in this manner. Intense action is featured in the most recent trailer, but audiences still have yet to find out more details of the film’s plotline. Be sure to check out the promo below and watch Eternals when it comes exclusively to theaters on November 5.
