Most recognized from his role as Peter Russo in House of Cards (2013), Corey Stoll has caught the eyes of Marvel’s Ant-Man. Directed by Edgar Wright and co-written by Wright and Joe Cornish, this movie will begin production in April, and Stoll is in negotiations for an undisclosed role according to a report by The Wrap.
In addition to Ant-Man, Stoll has several other projects lined up that are bound to make him shine in 2014. Stoll will also star as Dr. Ephraim Goodweather in The Strain, a new FX vampire horror show that takes place in New York City. The Strain is based on Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan’s (Pan’s Labyrinth) novel of the same name.
He can presently be seen in Jaume Collet-Serra’s airplane thriller, Non-Stop, which was released on February 28. He is also starring in two recently completed films – Philippe Falardeau’s The Good Lie and Shawn Levy’s This is Where I Leave You, both of which are due in theaters later this year. More will be seen of him in Tim Blake Nelson’s Anesthesia, Gilles Paquet-Brenner’s Dark Places, and Noah Buschel’s Glass Chin, all of which are currently in post-production.
Stoll isn’t the only actor of note in Ant-Man. Paul Rudd, best known for Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004) and Knocked Up (2007) will be playing the role of Scott Land. Oscar winner Michael Douglas (Wall Street) will also be co-starring as Hank Pym. Patrick Wilson (Watchmen), Michael Pena (American Hustle), and Evangeline Lilly (Lost) are also rumored to be joining the cast.
The president of production at Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige is on board as a producer for Ant-Man. After conversing with artistic ex-pats as Ernest Hemingway in Midnight in Paris (2011), we hope that Stoll will demonstrate the versatility of his acting “chops” through this film. Come July 17, 2015, the crowds are sure to be marching to the theaters to see Ant-Man, the next Marvel film in line after Avengers: Age of Ultron releases May 1, 2015.
