Marvel Films, Including Thor and Doctor Strange Sequels, Get New Release Dates

Today after weeks of constant reshuffling over at most major film studios, Marvel has finally secured their game plan for the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film releases. Now Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness has been moved from May 11, 2021 to March 25, 2022, almost an entire year later than planned.

Both upcoming Spider-Man films are also pushed back. Tom Holland‘s next Spider-Man film got delayed just few months from summer 2022, to November 5, 2021. The sequel to animated film Into the Spider-Verse is moving from April 2022 to October 7, 2022.

On the other hand, Thor: Love and Thunder is being moved up a week from February 18 to February 11, 2021.

This comes after the news of Black Widow‘s release moving all the way back to November of this year, when prior it was scheduled for April. Marvel films are known for having elaborately planned release schedules so that each film happens exactly when it needs to in procession for each film to connect.

Theaters are in talks to re-open, but for now nothing is written in stone. Moving back the launches of these films seems like a safe bet in this atmosphere of uncertainty, when production, screenings, and press all are being impacted by the global pandemic. One thing we do know, there is much to look forward to in theaters in 2021 and 2022.
