Marilyn Monroe Netflix Film ‘Blonde’ Adds Scoot McNairy, Garret Dillahunt, and More

 

Production for the upcoming Netflix and Plan B-produced Marilyn Monroe biopic, Blonde, is currently underway in which Blade Runner 2049‘s Ana de Armas is set to star according to Deadline.

Directed by Andrew Dominik, the film signed Garret Dillahunt of Fear the Walking Dead and Widows fame, Scoot McNairy of True Detective and Killing Them Softly, Lucy DeVito of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and The Comedian, Michael Masini of Birds of Prey and Dynasty and Spencer Garrett of Once Upon Time In Hollywood to the cast.

Previously announced cast members are Adrien Brody, Chris Lemmon of Duet and A Twist of Lemmon, Rebecca Wisocky of Star Trek: Picard and For All Mankind, Ned Bellamy of Django Unchained and The Paperboy, Dan Butler of Modern Love and The Mist, Bobby Cannavale, Julianne Nicholson, Lily Fisher, Evan Williams, Xavier Samuel, Casper Phillipson, Toby Huss, Sara Paxton, and David Warshofksy.

The film will be shot in Los Angeles and is based on the best-selling novel Blonde written by five-time Pulitzer Prize finalist Joyce Carol Oates. The novel is a reimagined story of Monroe’s private life covering unheard of details about the famous 1950s sex symbol. Unlike other biographical works, Oates’ novel examines Monroe’s life through the modern scope of celebrity culture.

Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner are producing the film for Plan B.
