Maddie Ziegler has signed on to join the cast of the upcoming teen drama The Fallout next to You star Jenna Ortega. The Fallout centers around a high schooler named Vada, who is played by Ortega. She must navigate the emotional fallout she experiences in the wake of a school tragedy, as all her relationships with her family, friends and her view on the world are forever changed.
Actress turned filmmaker Megan Park is writing and directing the feature. David Brown and Giulia Prenna will produce for Clear Horizon, along with Cara Shine Ballarini. Other producers include Joannie Burstein and Rebecca Miller for The Burstein Co., and Todd Lundbohm of 828 Media Capital. Clear Horizon will be selling the film’s worldwide rights.
In light of the news of Ziegler joining The Fallout cast, Brown said, “Maddie is an exceptional talent, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to bring her on board. She will bring so much to the production.” Ziegler shared the casting news on Instagram, writing that she is “so grateful and excited about this one.”
Growing up as a child star, Ziegler appeared as a staple character in Lifetime’s reality show Dance Moms. Her talent became well-known outside of the dance community through her performance in Sia’s music video Chandelier. She made her feature acting debut in The Book of Henry and will next be seen in Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story.
