‘Lurker’s North American Release Date Announced Through Mubi

Mubi, which is distributed through Sundance, recently announced that the latest hit from the festival, Lurker, will be released in theaters in North America on August 22, 2025. The film stars Theodore Pellerin and Archie Madakwe and is a cat and mouse thriller revolving around a young adult retail clerk and a pop star. While the two become entangled and the friendship and hostility begin the blur, the movie will take a life and death stance through matters of proximity.

Lurker will the the directorial debut for Alex Russell who currently has credits in Hulu’s The Bear, and Beef. Following its international premiere in Berlin, as well as its increasing critical reception from The Sundance Film Festival, Lurker is set to close out New York City’s films and directors.

When Lurker becomes theatrically released across North America in four months, it will open against Lionsgate’s other big indie hits of Americana which will star Sydney Sweeney, and Vertical’s distribution of Eden which is directed by Ron Howard.

Lurker is produced by Alex Orlovsky, Duncan Montgomery, Galen Core, Charlie McDowell, Jack Shelby, Marc Marrie, Francisco Melzi d’Eril, and Olmo Schnabel. The Production companies involved are Madekwe. Productions which include: High Frequency Entertainment, MeMo, Arts & Sciences, TWIN Pictures, and Case Study films.
