Vincent Van Gogh, a name known throughout the art world and the general populace alike. Chances are slim to find a person who have not heard the name before. The beauty of Van Gogh’s work is evident, and his contributions to the Post-Impressionism art movement will live on forever in many artists’ work. Van Gogh is receiving a beautiful biopic of sorts on September 22nd, and the first official trailer has surfaced, showcasing the originality of the film: a film animated completely with oil paintings:
Loving Vincent is an homage to the late great painter, and will focus on Van Gogh’s life and odd death. The artist is voiced by Robert Gulaczyk, who last featured in a Polish film titled Prosta Historia O Morderstwie. The film features a whole host of great actors, including Aidan Turner (The Hobbit series), Chris O’Dowd (Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children), Saoirse Ronan (The Grand Budapest Hotel), John Sessions (Gangs of New York), and James Greene (Sherlock Holmes).
The most impressive part of the film is obviously the oil painting animation. Over 65,000 different oil paintings were used to complete the film, with 125 professional painters completing the work. We are extremely excited to see the full film in action, and are ready to experience the life of the late but great Vincent Van Gogh.
