Turner Classic Movies and Fathom Events proudly bring the classics to the Silver Screen for everyone to enjoy. This month will see the release of the 1940 romantic comedy The Philadelphia Story starring Katherine Hepburn, Cary Grant and James Stewart. It tells the story of a socialite who, on the eve of her wedding, is visited by her ex-husband and tabloid-type reporter. It is here that the young lady will learn the truth about herself and decide who she really loves.
Directed by George Cukor (Gaslight) and based on the play by the same name that was released a year earlier in 1939 that was penned by Philip Barry, it went on to become the 5th highest-grossing film of 1941 and earned six Academy Award Nominations, and winning two- James Stewart for Best Actor and Donald Ogden Stewart for Best Screenplay. The Philadelphia Story is often cited as “one of the best romantic comedies of all time.”
The Philadelphia Story will be back on the big screen on February 18 and 21. Get your tickets and enjoys the laughs, the romance and the witty script to tie it all together.
