Live-action ‘Winnie the Pooh’ in the Works for Disney

Welcome back to the Hundred Acre Wood! Disney is developing a live-action adaptation of their animated classic Winnie the Pooh, based on the beloved characters from A.A. Milne’s timeless children’s books, according to Deadline. This comes just days after the studio announced live-action remake of their 1998 animated hit MulanThe two films join a growing list of planned Disney reboots including Beauty and the Beast starring Emma Watson, Dumbo (to be directed by Tim Burton), and The Jungle Book.

Disney has seen great success in re-purposing its animated properties, what with 2010’s Alice in Wonderland (also directed by Burton), the Angelina Jolie starrer Malificent in 2014, and their most recent box-office triumph Cinderella.

The remake will center on Christopher Robin as an adult returning to the Hundred Acre Wood and reuniting with the titular bear. Disney has tapped Sundance favorite Alex Ross Perry (Listen Up Philip) to write the adaptation.
