Lionsgate has set the release date for the romantic comedy Shotgun Wedding starring Jennifer Lopez and Josh Duhamel. The film is expected to hit theaters on June 29, 2022.
The director behind hit comedies like Pitch Perfect and Sisters, Jason Moore, is at the helm with New Girl creators Elizabeth Meriwether and Mark Hammer writing the script.
The romantic comedy also stars comedian Jennifer Coolidge (A Cinderella Story, Legally Blonde), Sônia Braga (Aquarius), Selena Tan (Crazy Rich Asians), singer and actor Lenny Kravitz (The Hunger Games), as well as a stand-up comedian and activist Cheech Marin (The War with Grandpa).
The romantic comedy follows Darcy (Lopez) and Tom (Duhamel), who plan a resort wedding for their families. However, when the couple starts to get cold feet, the entire wedding party is taken hostage, giving the saying “til death do us part” a new meaning.
Duhamel’s role in the movie was once set to be played by Armie Hammer but pulled away from the role in January after reports of sexual abuse and social media backlash. The production of Shotgun Wedding began filming after Hammer pulled out and just finished the filming earlier this week. Lopez announced the film’s wrap on her Instagram.

Lopez is currently working on Netflix’s The Cipher as FBI agent Nina Guerrero drawn into a serial killer’s case. Duhamel has finished filming on thriller Blackout, about a man with no memory in a hospital and soon finds himself on the run with the Cartel hot on his trail.
