Lionsgate Negotiating for Rights to Roger Ailes Film

On October 9, Annapurna, who were originally set to distribute and produce the upcoming Fox News Film following the downfall of Roger Isles, decided to back out of the project due to issues with their budget. Now, Lionsgate is in negotiations to take over production of the much anticipated film. A few other companies were potentially looking to grab up the rights, but the only one coming to any sort of fruition is with Lionsgate.

It is no surprise that this unnamed movie has so much conversation about it since the cast attached is nothing less than spectacular. Alongside John Lithgow, who will be playing the devious Roger Aisles, are Margot Robbie, Nicole Kidman, Charlize Theron, Kate McKinnon, and many others.

The film is set to follow the downfall of Aisles after claims of sexual harassment began piling up on him. The lawsuit filed harassment from Gretchen Carlson (Kidman) in 2016 eventually led to Megyn Kelly (Theron) opening up about Aisle’s abuse toward her. Through all of these combined stories, the women of Fox News led a huge change within their station.
