‘Lion’ Wins Top Prize From American Society of Cinematographers

On Saturday night, the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) held their 31st annual awards ceremony celebrating the year’s finest achievement in the craft of cinematography. In twist, it was Lion, the tender family drama from The Weinstein Company, that took home the top prize. Lion‘s director of photography – Greig Fraser (Rogue One: A Star Wars StoryZero Dark Thirty) – won out over awards juggernaut La La Land, as well as MoonlightSilence and Arrival. The same five nominees are up in contention for the Best Cinematography category at the the upcoming Academy Awards.
