Lindsay Lohan Returns to Acting for Netflix Holiday Rom-Com

Lindsay Lohan, who has been on-and-off on seen screen for many years, has been cast as the lead in an unnamed holiday rom-com Netflix confirmed Monday. Fans know Lohan for her roles in movies like Freaky Friday, Mean Girls, and The Parent Trap. The unnamed holiday rom-com will be directed by Janeen Damian (Hallmark Channel’s A Christmas Waltz); it will also be her directorial debut.

In the days coming up to Christmas, a recently engaged, spoiled hotel heiress (Lohan) who gets into a skiing accident and suffers from amnesia finds herself in the care of a handsome, blue-collar lodge owner and his brilliant daughter. No other cast members have been announced yet by Netflix.

The film will be produced by the streamer’s go-to Christmas film producer MPCA. MPCA has created a number of Netflix holiday films that include A Christmas Prince, The Christmas Switch, Operation Christmas Drop, and the upcoming A Castle for Christmas.

Lohan had occasional acting jobs since early 2010, including starring in Paul Schrader’s 2013 film, The Canyons, 2014’s Speed-the-Plow, and recurring on the 2018 British TV Comedy Sick Note. She also starred in the 2019 MTV reality show Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club while appearing as a judge on the Australian edition of The Masked Singer in that same year.

Production will begin in November, so, unfortunately, that means the movie won’t be available for viewing during the 2021 holiday season.
