This Wednesday, Shout! Factory released the trailer for What’s Love Got To Do With It? a new rom-com starring Lily James and Shazad Latif. The movie follows filmmaker Zoe (played by James), who chooses her childhood friend and neighbor, Kaz (played by Latif), and his arranged marriage as her documentary subject. Zoe and Kaz go back and forth about whether they marry for love or convenience.
Along with her documentary, Zoe journeys to Pakistan with Kaz to meet his future bride, but she soon discovers that the modern fairytale of a “marriage for convenience” isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.
Joining James and Latif, the cast includes Emma Thompson, Shabana Azmi, Asim Chaudhry, Jeff Mirza, and Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan as himself.
Directed by Shekhar Kapur and written and produced by Jemima Khan, the film held its world premiere at Toronto International Film Festival in 2022 but opens in theatres nationwide on May 5th.
