Fresh off of his Oscar Win for The Shape of Water, Guillermo Del Toro has a few new projects being set up for the future. His next big directorial project will be an adaptation of William Lindsay Gresham’s novel, Nightmare Alley, which was also made into a movie back in 1947. The film centers on a con man named Tyrone Power and his female psychiatrist partner taking joy in swindling people with their mentalist act. Things take a turn for the worse when his partner in crime starts manipulating him through various means.
Del Toro has Oscar wining actor Leonardo DiCaprio in talks to be in the film he is directing and co-writing with Kim Morgan. The role DiCaprio is stated to be in has been unspecified at the moment, though with him being such a big name, it is very likely that he will be the lead of Tyrone Power. DiCaprio has been making a comeback after taking a hiatus from acting after his Oscar win for The Revenant and will be returning again later this year for Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time In Hollywood. With working with Oscar winner Director Del Toro, DiCaprio is surely coming back bigger than ever with some very high profile roles on the agenda.
Nightmare Alley is set to start production in fall of 2019.
