Another tragedy has just occurred, because the world has lost yet another legend this year. Respected actress and director Penny Marshall has just past away. According to Variety she was 75 years old at the time of her death.

Marshall lived a long and eventful life, and she is considered a pioneer for women in Hollywood. She originally made a name for herself as an actress on the hit television series Laverne & Shirley.

Not only did was she she work as an actress, but she also had an amazing career as a director. Her directorial debut was the box office success, Jumpin’ Jack Flash, which starred Whoopi Goldberg. Marshall then went on to direct many films that are considered classic to this day including Big and A League of Their Own with Tom Hanks, as well as Awakenings, a film that received an Oscar nomination.
