87-year-old broadcasting legend Larry King has been hospitalized due to COVID-19 according to news reports. His condition is unknown and he’s being kept in isolation. His three sons have not been permitted to visit. King has dealt with a multitude of health issues over the years, including being diagnosed with lung cancer in 2017 and successfully undergoing surgery to treat it. In 1987 he suffered from a heart attack and underwent quintuple bypass surgery, and in 2019 he went through a procedure to address angina.
Last year, two of King’s children died within weeks of one another. His son, Andy King, passed away from a heart attack at the age of 65 in late July, followed by King’s daughter Chaia King, who died from lung cancer at the age of 52. King’s decades-long career on CNN and as columnist on USA Today made him one of the media’s biggest stars. He’s lent his vocal talents to many well-known films over the course of his career, including the original Ghostbusters, The Long Kiss Goodnight, Enemy of the State, and even The Bee Movie, where he voiced a bee version of himself. Over the years he’s also made plenty of cameo appearances on TV-shows like Fraiser, Law & Order, and 30 Rock.
The broadcaster’s most recent tweet was on November 26, 2020, when he wished his 2.4 million followers a happy Thanksgiving.
