Legal Drama Film ‘Just Mercy’ To Continue Production Under Warner Bros.

Just Mercy has experienced a rough production schedule. After being announced in 2015 with Michael B. Jordan playing the main character. The film had various problems, with the worst being the closure of the production studio working on the film, Broad Green Pictures. The film, however, has finally received its first lucky break, with Warner Bros producing the film, according to Empire.

Just Mercy is a film adaptation of the Bryan Stevenson book titled Just Mercy: A Story Of Justice And Redemption and focuses on Stevenson’s life as a lawyer. Stevenson founded the Equal Justice Initiative, which became a law firm that aimed to defend the less fortunate, the wrongly accused, women, and children. His first case, which may be the main plot of the film, was Walter McMillian, a man sentenced to death for a murder he supposedly committed but he rejects, who lies in the center of a conspiracy that involves business and politics.

With the film being picked up by Warner Bros., Just Mercy will be the next film that Michael B. Jordan will work on, which is set to begin filming early next year. The film is being directed by Destin Daniel Cretton with a script by Cretton and Andrew Lanham. We expect the film to possibly release sometime later next year.
