Latest Addition To ‘Jurassic Park’ Franchise Might Feature Scarlett Johansson

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Scarlett Johansson is currently in talks to be a part of Universal’s latest addition to the Jurassic Park franchise. The studio has given the new Jurassic World film a release date set for July 2, 2025, certain to make the film a summer blockbuster. Working with a script from David Koepp (writer of the original Jurassic Park and other works in the franchise), Gareth Edwards is set to direct the newest installment, stepping in after David Leitch left the project.

The Jurassic Park franchise has spanned 3 decades, beginning with the 1993 classic Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park, which was based on the novel of the same name by Michael Crichton. The film was a success, leading to a sequel also directed by Spielberg in 1997 entitled The Lost World. Later came 2001’s Jurassic Park III from director Joe Johnston. Nearly a decade ago, Universal decided to revive the franchise with another box office hit, 2015’s Jurassic World, which grossed $1.67 billion and led to two sequels, 2018’s Fallen Kingdom and 2022’s Dominion. This trilogy in the franchise was led by Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard and had Colin Trevorrow directing the first and last installment with J.A. Bayona directing the middle installment.
