Back in December, we had been informed that Kurt Russell (The Hateful Eight) was in talks to join the cast of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Well, the studio, along with director James Gunn, has confirmed that he is in deed on board.
While the plot of the new film is pretty much under wraps right now, we do know that Russell will play father to Chris Pratt’s Starlord. His significance, other than that, is unknown. Along with Russell, Elizabeth Debicki (The Great Gatsby), Chris Sullivan (The Drop), and Pom Klementieff (Oldboy) have also been added to the cast, which already includes Pratt, Zoe Saldana (Avatar), David Bautista (Spectre), Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, and Glenn Close, among others. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 began principal photography this past week and is set to hit theaters May 5, 2017.
Gunn took to Facebook to post the casting news as well as offically announce the commencement of production.
