While Warner Bros. searches for another director on their DC Comics film The Flash, the screenplay will being undergoing a rewrite from Joby Harold, according to Variety. Harold most recently wrote the scripts for King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, Robin Hood: Origins, and a Twilight Zone film for Warner Bros.
In the past months, director Rick Famuyiwa (Dope) exited the project reportedly due to creative differences and the direction he took the script, himself. Before that, Seth Graham-Smith (Pride and Prejudice and Zombies) had written an initial draft. While the studio searches for Famuyiwa’s replacement, it looks like they are getting a head start on creative changes. The film has been temporarily put on hold while this search continues and while star Ezra Miller films the sequel to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
Considering the backlash against their last two superhero outings – Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad – it wouldn’t be surprising if the studio has decided to be extra particular about the future of the tentpole.
The Flash will also star Kiersey Clemons as Iris West and Billy Crudup as Barry Allen’s (aka The Flash) father. The film is currently due out on July 27, 2018, but it is unclear if Warner Bros. is still planning to hold onto that slot. Check back for updates developments progress.
