Kevin Spacey Receives Official Sexual Assault Charges

Late last month, four cases of sexual misconduct were filed against Kevin Spacey, and now the American actor is being formally charged with all four counts of sexual assault, including nonconsensual sex, in the United Kingdom.

All of the offenses take place between the years 2005 and 2013 in London and Gloucester county. The three men who are claiming violation by Spacey are now in their 30s and 40s, meaning a twenty or more year age gap between them and the 62-year-old actor.

This Thursday, he’s scheduled to appear in court following a review of evidence by Crown Prosecution Services. Before any formal charges were announced, Spacey stated he would “voluntarily” go to court on the matter. Additionally, he’s said he’s “confident” that he can clear his name on all accounts.

In 2017, Anthony Rapp, another actor, came forward with sexual abuse allegations towards Spacey allegedly taking place when Rapp was 14. At the time, Spacey was serving as the artistic director of the Old Vic Theater in London, a position he held from 2004-2015, and the theater revealed there have been 20 other allegations against Spacey during his time there.

Spacey apologized for his drunken behavior towards Rapp on Twitter, saying he didn’t recall the incident. Spacey noted that he is now “living as a gay man” in the same statement, to which he received criticisms from many LGBTQ+ groups for coming out as gay while simultaneously attempting to take attention away from the allegations.
