Kevin Smith Takes to Social Media -Reveals Plans for New ‘Jay and Silent Bob’ Film

Kevin Smith, creator of beloved cult classics such Clerks and the Comic Book Men TV series, thrilled his fans last night when he posted screenshot of the title page for his latest film, Jay and Silent Bob Reboot on Facebook , Instagram, and Twitter. His post, beginning with the phrase “This is not a drill!” gave fans an insight into his struggle to get projects such as sequels to films like Clerks and Mallrats off the ground, while also expressing gratitude for the projects that he has been able to see come to life. The entire post is a reflection of his time in Hollywood, and an interesting read about the journey of an independent filmmaker as he attempts to navigate the complex beast that is Hollywood.

At the very end of his post, and his journey in Hollywood to date, is Jay and Silent Bob Reboot. The film has yet to start production, but Miramax has expressed interest in it, so Smith hopes that shooting will start this summer. He describes the film as “a fun flick” in which the title characters take to Hollywood once more to stop the reboot of the “Bluntman & Chronic Movie” they hated so much previously. He promises the same tongue in cheek humor and mocking of big business that fans have come to expect from a Smith film, as well as an all-star cast with tons of cameos. He ends the post with an inspiring message about how you can do anything, a message that Smith himself has lived since the overwhelming popularity of his low budget hit Clerks.
