Kevin Feige Reveals Adam Driver Turned Marvel Studios Down Multiple Times

In a recent interview on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige revealed that the studio had approached Adam Driver multiple times for possible roles, but had been rejected by Driver each time. Here’s his full explanation:

“It’s no secret we’d like to [work with Driver]. But it’s a tradition to Zoom with him, and then he passes. That’s a long-lived tradition. He couldn’t be more cordial. He is usually upfront about how he is feeling.”

Feige didn’t reveal any details in the interview about what possible roles Adam Driver had been approached for. Very recently, however, rumors have circulated that Driver is in talks to play a role in Marvel Studios’ upcoming X-Men film that is currently in development, with Jake Schreier in talks to direct. However, Feige didn’t comment on these rumors in the interview, and Driver has yet to comment on these rumors, either.

Driver, best known for playing Kylo Ren in the recent Star Wars trilogy, hasn’t dipped his toes into IP films post-Star Wars. The past couple of years have seen Driver play roles in films from notable filmmakers, such as Noah Baumbach (Marriage Story [2019], White Noise [2021]), Leos Carax (Annette [2021]), Ridley Scott (The Last Duel [2021]House of Gucci [2021]), Michael Mann (Ferrari [2023]), and Francis Ford Coppola (Megalopolis [2025]). Driver had been involved in developing a Kylo Ren project with filmmaker Steven Soderbergh titled The Hunt for Ben Solo, but Disney ultimately scrapped it.

Adam Driver can next be seen in Paper Tiger (2026) from director James Gray alongside Miles Teller and Scarlett Johansson.
