Keke Palmer And Pete Davidson Join Eddie Murphy In ‘The Pickup’ Cast

Keke Palmer and Pete Davidson joined the cast of NBC’s upcoming heist comedy film The Pickup. The film also stars Eddie Murphy in the lead role and as a producer through Eddie Murphy Productions.

Though no details about the film’s plot have been released, many production members expect to start the shoot in February. Additionally, Gentlemen Lobsters creators Matt Mider and Kevin Burrows penned the screenplay with Tim Story (Fantastic Four, Barbershop) set to direct the project. Mider and Burrows will serve as the executive producers, while Story will be one of the film’s producers in addition to Murphy, Charisse Hewitt-Webster, John Davis, and John Fox.

Palmer and Davidson have had impressive roles and careers that helped launch them into this opportunity. On the one hand, Davidson is an SNL alumnus like Murphy and recently came away from critical acclaim for his role in Dumb Money alongside Paul Dano. On the other hand, Palmer has gained recognition for her work in Jordan Peele’s Nope and Hustlers, where she starred alongside Jennifer Lopez. Both roles showcased her knack for playing strong characters with great chemistry with the leads.

Murphy is coming in hot after a successful semi-comeback in the Christmas comedy Candy Cane Lane. After premiering on Amazon Prime on December 1st,  the film became the most-watched Amazon MGM-led film ever in America. It earned a spot amongst the top 10 worldwide film debuts on Amazon three days after its release.

Not much else is known about the upcoming feature, though it may be a treat for fans of Eddie Murphy looking forward to more of his comedic work.
