‘Justice League’ Director Zack Snyder to Helm ‘The Last Photograph’

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Justice League director Zack Snyder’s next project will be The Last Photograph. Snyder co-wrote the story with Kurt Johnstad, about a war correspondent who is the sole survivor of an attack on a group of Americans in Afghanistan. He teams up with a special ops soldier searching for a missing family member. The title is derived from a photograph which inspires the search.

Snyder had set up the project a decade ago following his success with 300, however the rights lapsed. Gianni Nunnari’s Hollywood Gang is in the process of negotiating a new deal. Back in 2011, Christian Bale and Sean Penn were attached to star, however at this time the feature has yet to be cast.

Snyder and his wife/producing partner Deborah Snyder hope to repackage the project and take it to Warner Bros., with whom they have a have a first-look pact for their Cruel and Unusual Films banner. They are hoping to start shooting in the latter part of next year.

Snyder will next direct Justice League 2, which will likely go into production after director-writer-star Ben Affleck’s stand-alone The Batman feature, currently in pre-production.
