Last week the first image for Amber Heard’s character, Mera, in the upcoming Justice League film hit online and made quite the splash. Originally posted on IGN, The Hollywood Reporter stated that the image first surfaced alongside costume designs before director Zach Snyder posted the image on social media.
Heard portrays Mera, Aquaman’s (Jason Momoa) love interest in the upcoming DCEU superhero team-up, Justice League. This incarnation is a fairly accurate representation of the character when compared to the comic book version.
According to comic book lore, the once queen of an alternate dimension falls in love with Aquaman and eventually becomes his bride. In Atlantis, the aquatic pair rule their kingdom while protecting the Seven Seas.
The actual story behind Mera in the upcoming film is still unclear, but we are fairly certain she will make her debut when Justice League hits theaters November 17th, 2017.
