According to an exclusive by Variety, Madison Iseman, best known for her role at Bethany in Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, has been cast as the female lead in the upcoming teen romance film This is the Year.
Director David Henrie, best know for his work on Wizards of Waverly Place had this to say about the young and bright actress joining the cast:
“I’m so stoked to have Madison on board at such an exciting time in her career. Madison has the ability to give a deeply layered performance which is the exact quality I was looking for because her character is one that’s dealing with complex emotions stemming from a deep desire to break free from the labels she’s been branded with in high school.”
The film, written by Henrie and Bug Hall, centers around a high schooler taking one last swing at getting the girl of his dreams (Iseman) while embarking on a trip to get to the best music festival of the year. Little does he know, though, that he may just find love in the least expected of places.
Andrea Iervolino is set to produce through his film label Ambi Media Group, with his partner Monika Bacardi, and with TaTaTu, his newly founded, blockchain-based social entertainment platform. Novo Media Group is producing with James Henrie and Leo Severino, and Paolo Aquilini, with Ambi, is executive producing alongside Jason Weinberg and Luca Riemma.
