The second Hunger Games film hasn’t even been released yet, but excitement is already brewing for the last installments of the series. The latest news on Hunger Games: Mockingjay reports that Julianne Moore is in early talks to join Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, and Philip Seymour Hoffman for the two-part adaptation of Suzanne Collins’s third book. If all goes well, Moore will be playing Alma Coin, leader of District 13. District 13, thought to have been destroyed by the Capitol, is revealed as the center of rebellion. Although our heroine Katniss (Lawrence) and Coin have essentially the same goal – to defeat the tyrannical President Snow – suspicion and distrust grow as their political and moral viewpoints diverge.
Catching Fire director Francis Lawrence is signed on to helm the next two movies as well, while actor/writer Danny Strong, whose first feature-length screenplay The Butler can be seen in theaters this August, starring (among others) Hunger Games star/musician Lenny Kravitz, is overseeing the script work.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is set to release on November 22nd of this year, and Mockingjay parts one and two are planned for November 21, 2014 and November 20, 2015, respectively.
